Delft – Delftware plate with polychrome floral decor – mid 18th century

Mid-18th century Delft earthenware plate (faience) featuring polychrome decoration in the popular Chinoiserie style, reflecting European interpretations of Chinese porcelain motifs combined with the flowing, asymmetrical designs characteristic of the Rococo period.

The central scene depicts stylized rock formations, palm-like trees, and a large flowering plant rendered in a vibrant palette including cobalt blue, iron red, green, ochre, and manganese. The rim is decorated with alternating floral sprays that complement the central motif, harmonizing traditional Delftware with polychrome enamel colors.
