ABOUT THIS ITEM

Dutch Delft blue vase, 18th century. This tin-glazed earthenware vase features a central decoration of a flower bouquet in a cartouche, painted in cobalt blue.
The painting is sharp and saturated, typical of high-quality 18th-century Delftware.

This vase was originally part of a garniture set.

Marked with a claw for De Claauw, or De Klaauw, one of Delft’s most renowned pottery factories. Established in 1661, De Klaauw operated until 1840. The factory was noted for its high-quality blue-and-white Delftware, often featuring floral motifs and cartouche designs. Over its long history, the factory adapted to changing tastes and a diverse clientele. Under the management of Lambertus Sanderus from 1763 to 1806, De Klaauw continued to produce fine ceramics, contributing significantly to the legacy of Dutch Delftware. This vase dates from that period.
