18th-century Italian alzatina, or crespina (dish on stand), depicting a seated mythological woman, possibly representing Diana, the Roman goddess of the hunt.
This piece reflects the 18th-century Italian tradition of polychrome or tin-glazed earthenware alzatine, which were primarily intended as decorative display objects, often placed in domestic cabinets or on dining tables as status symbols. Workshops in regions such as Faenza, Deruta, and northern Italy produced similar figural alzatine throughout the 18th century.
Condition: Fair; the stand has an old repair which has pierced the mirror of the dish.
