A late 17th-century Dutch Delftware tea canister, tin-glazed and painted in underglaze cobalt blue. The rectangular body features Chinoiserie landscapes on the front and back, depicting birds, trees, rocks, and flowering plants. The sides are adorned with cartouches enclosing birds within stylized ornamental frameworks, inspired by contemporary Chinese porcelain models.
Marked: AK, for Adrianus Kocx, who owned the Delft factory De Grieksche A from 1687 to 1701. De Grieksche A was a prominent Delftware factory renowned for its high-quality tin-glazed earthenware, often producing pieces in the popular Chinoiserie style influenced by imported Chinese porcelain. Kocx is documented as a leading figure in Delft production at the turn of the 18th century, and marked pieces from his workshop are rare and highly sought after by collectors.
Unrestored, with minor fritting and small chips to the upper rim.
