A White Delft gadrooned dish (plooischotel) decorated in relief with two rows of twenty nine gadroons, with domed well with circular footring 18th Century.
The gadrooned or fluted dish form derives from earlier European tin-glazed traditions and imported French examples, particularly from Nevers and Rouen, and was adopted in the Dutch Republic in the 17th century.
Dishes of this type, known as plooischotels, are defined by their moulded lobed rims, domed centres, and footrings, and occur with single or multiple rows of gadrooning. Plain white Delftware was produced alongside painted wares. Undecorated examples were made from the mid-17th century onward, allowing for faster production and emphasising form rather than surface decoration.
Very good condition: usual wear and chipping to the rim, some undeep hairlines to the glaze.
