Sèvres porcelain cup and saucer from rom the ‘Service fond beau blue, frise capraire en or’ of the Emperor Louis Philippe at the Tuileries.
Decorated with gilt garlandras of leaves and capraire flowers on a blue background.
Cup marked in blue with Louis Philippe mark Sèvres 1846, and in red the Chateau des Tuilleries mark, gilder’s and painters marks. Saucer, blue underglaze Louis Philippe Sèvres star mark 1834 and red Chateau des Tuilleries mark, gilder’s and painters marks.
This Capraire service was firstly ordered by King Louis-Philippe on 21 November 1832 by letter, certainly because the Tuileries was his main residence. The first order consisted of 762 pieces. The cup was a restocking delivered in 1846, while the saucer dates from the first delivery.
The set is a perfectly matching notwithstanding the difference in age.
